Twenty Five Years of
Artists-in-Residence

at The Red Barn Studio Museum

2023 Marks 25 Years of AIR

The Red Barn Studio Museum and the Raymer Society celebrated 25 years of the Artist-in-Residence program on May 21st. We commemorated the occasion with good food, great music provided by Jazz Tangent from Salina, and Blue Sky Brewery providing craft brew for the event.

The main event for the anniversary was the auction of 30 Raymer-inspired plywood suns, interpreted by 25+ artists with spectacular amount of creativity. The auction was to help with the cost of renovations in the apartment used by visiting artists during their residency. Including donations and the proceeds from the auction, less expenses, the 25th Anniversary event raised $6000 to be used for improvements to the apartment bathroom.

We are thrilled to share the event was great fun, and very successful! And donations are still being accepted to be used for improvements to the artists’ apartment, Don’t miss your chance to be a part of this great cause and make a meaningful impact. Donate now by calling 785-227-2217 or mailing a check to Red Barn Studio Museum 212 S. Main Street, Lindsborg, Ks 67456 with a note or memo: AIR reno.

We thank you for your support, and together, let’s continue to foster creativity and enrich the lives of artists in our community!

Why?

This celebration will mark 25 years hosting artists, from all over the world, working in all mediums. This program helps us fulfil our mission of  providing public opportunities for artistic and cultural enrichment. It’s an opportunity for the public to see new works by regional, national, and international artists, as well as the inspiring work of Lester Raymer.

The Raymer Society’s Artist-in-Residence program began in 1998 under the directorship of Dr.Carla Scott. The first AIR artist was Caroline Kahler who at the time taught at Bethany College. Since we have hosted hundreds of artists from all over the world. Visiting artists stay in an apartment in Lester’s and Ramona’s house on the property. Because of the ongoing use the apartment is past due for an update, especially the bathroom.

All proceeds go toward renovating the artist-in-residence apartment bathroom to update the shower/tub surround, and flooring.
