Goertz Norton, (1915-1990) "Line Shack" block print
Norton Goertz (1915-1990) "Line Shack" block print, signed in lower right, good condition, upper edges of image appear to be under mat, visible image size: 9.5×11.75 inches. Goertz studied art with A.R. Ebel and was a member of the Kansas Watercolor Society. He began painting with oils but became prolific in many mediums, including pastels, linocuts, acrylics and watercolors. He exhibited paintings at the Kansas Watercolor Society’s National Exhibition and is believed to have created 700-800 works. He was a prominent member of the American Legion and was known as Hillsboro’s bootlegger during the prohibition era. In 1988, he received a degree in art from Bethel College, Newton, KS.
