Max Penner will be returning to The Red Barn Studio as Artist-in-Residence from Monday, November 12^th through Monday, November 19^th.  Although he currently lives in Kansas City, MO, Max became fond of Lindsborg during his childhood visits with his aunt, Elise Penner, a local artist and former student of Sandzén.  He continues to enjoy returning to Lindsborg to this day.

Max is a BFA graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute and has an MA degree in Studio Art from Kansas City’s University of Missouri.  He currently works as a graphic designer and illustrator but continues to draw and paint, which will be his focus during his time as Artist-in-Residence.

During his stay, Max intends to work on paintings featuring images from either a recent cruise through the Baltic Sea or his favorite places in Lindsborg.  Of his art, Max says, “I have enjoyed my time in the past as the Artist-in-Residence at the Red Barn Studio.  Lester Raymer was a genius of creative expression in all of the media that he touched.  Admiration of his work has been an inspiration for many artists and patrons who continue their support of this great program. My work has been greatly influenced by the places and people of central Kansas. I feel at home in Lindsborg and always appreciate the kindness of friends and family when I return.”

Visit with the artist and view his work during his artist reception, to be held on Saturday, November 18^th, from 2-5pm.  Light refreshments will be served.
