Rodger Gerberding of Council Bluffs, Iowa, will be the Artist-in-Residence, along with grandson, Kellen Rief, on Sunday, August 1^st to Saturday August 28 at the Red Barn Studio. This August in Lindsborg, Rodger will take the form of continued “investigation in paint and other mediums of the people in my head and the people I see on the street. I will hope to limn (recreate on paper or another surface what one sees in the world) at least a small series of downtown Lindsborg architectural points of interest.  I’ll be looking at sidewalks in search of found oddments for the objects I glue and staple and nail together.  Und so weiter.  (And so on) And I’ll think of how much joy the enterprise of all of this brings to me, and the pleasure of working creatively for its own sweet sake, in a place I love. And I will be joined for several days by my immensely talented, quiet but enthusiastic, grandson, Kellen, who will be working on a continued series of futuristic/architectural fantasies, in company with his on-going investigation of his own humanism as performed by clowns, 50s-styled robots, and other personages.  He’ll surely mix in Lindsborg sites.  Humor and humanity and his perceptions of them: these are Kellen’s obsessions.  In September, he’ll be heading off to college in Hastings, NE, on a full art scholarship.”  “First you understand biology, then you understand mood, then you understand expectations, then intentions, then ideas,” by Joanna Russ, (AND CHAOS DIED.)
